Voted ‘Locals favourite for Fine Dining’, Ticino Restaurant is one of the few remaining ‘mom and pop’ operations located in Banff. In July 2009, Erwin Widmer celebrated his thirtieth anniversary as owner/manager of the business. A familiar face in Banff, Erwin left Zurich in 1967 and secured a job as a ski instructor at Mike Wiegele’s Ski School that first winter. Continuing with work, study and travels to Mexico, Bermuda and Switzerland, Erwin left Banff many times but has called Banff home, since marrying Lorrie in 1980. Erwin and Lorrie have raised their family in Banff and are exceptionally proud of Ticino’s many contributions to the community.

In April 2009, Chef Urs Manser (from Appenzell, Switzerland) and his wife Sonya (from New Zealand) welcomed their first baby, son Leon George to the world and they look forward to introducing their little man to the adventures that life in a mountain town brings.
